“Bar Council of India Defends Justice DY Chandrachud Against Baseless Allegations”

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has firmly defended Supreme Court Justice DY Chandrachud against allegations made by lawyer RK Pathan. Pathan accused Justice Chandrachud of passing orders to benefit his son’s client, a claim the BCI has denounced as a malicious attempt to disrupt the judiciary’s function.

In its statement, the BCI condemned these actions as a deliberate effort to tarnish the reputation of the Supreme Court and its judges. The council emphasized the growing trend of baseless accusations against judicial figures, which poses a serious concern for the country’s judicial system and must be addressed urgently.

The BCI pointed out that Pathan’s allegations are being spread deliberately to tarnish Justice Chandrachud’s reputation as he is considered for the position of Chief Justice of India. The council highlighted the lack of information in Pathan’s complaint, noting that it included no details about Pathan’s identity, address, or the organization he claims to represent.

The BCI further stated that senior members of the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court Bar have identified Pathan as the same individual found guilty of contempt by the Supreme Court in April 2020 for filing false complaints against a retired Supreme Court judge. The Supreme Court had labeled those complaints as scandalous.

The BCI asserted that Pathan’s actions are a deliberate attempt to discredit the Indian judiciary globally. The timing of the complaint, according to the council, reveals the malicious intent behind this baseless accusation.
