Ghaziabad Gang-Rape Claim Was Fabricated: Police Investigation Reveals
A 36-year-old woman from Delhi recently alleged that she was gang-raped by five men in Ghaziabad, but the police have now claimed that the story was fabricated due to a property dispute.
Police Findings
According to Praveen Kumar, UP’s regional police chief, the woman spent the two days she claimed to have been kidnapped and assaulted with her two friends. The investigation also revealed that one of her friends turned off his phone near the spot where she was found, raising suspicions.
The case gained attention when the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson, Swati Maliwal, tweeted about the incident. She reported that the woman was found tied up in a jute bag, with injuries allegedly caused by an iron rod. However, doctors at GTB Hospital in Delhi later confirmed that the woman had no internal injuries.
The Allegations and Investigation
The woman claimed she was abducted while waiting for a bus in Ghaziabad after attending a birthday party. She alleged that five men dragged her into a car and assaulted her. Four men were arrested, and the police initially filed a case but also flagged a potential property dispute as the motive.
The police now say that the allegations were part of a conspiracy to frame the accused men. Evidence has surfaced showing that money was sent via PayTM to someone tasked with amplifying the case’s publicity. One of the woman’s friends involved in the conspiracy already has three criminal cases against him.
Medical and Tracking Evidence
The woman initially refused medical examinations at government hospitals in Ghaziabad and Meerut, insisting on being treated at GTB Hospital in Delhi. Despite her claims, doctors there found no evidence of internal injuries.
Mobile signal tracking also contradicted her statements, showing inconsistencies in her timeline and the involvement of her associates.
Current Status
As of now, there has been no response from the woman or DCW Chief Swati Maliwal regarding the police’s revelations.
