Guwahati: The Guwahati Police recently arrested three fraudsters, including a woman, for cheating people through fake real estate deals and other scams. The arrests were made in the Odalbakra area of Guwahati.
The accused have been identified as Nikita Tiyari, Jyotishman Lahkar, and Rajesh Mandal. Nikita is from Rehabari, Jyotishman is from Geetanagar, and Rajesh is originally from Nagaland.
According to reports, Nikita Tiyari is also linked to a mobile theft case registered at Paltan Bazar police station. She was allegedly pretending to be a real estate agent to cheat people out of their money.
The three suspects have been carrying out similar fraud activities in different areas of Assam, tricking unsuspecting victims. They used fake identities and promises to trap people, especially in property-related matters.
The police have registered a case against all three, and further investigation is underway to uncover more details and possible victims.
The arrest highlights the importance of verifying identities before dealing with anyone claiming to be a real estate agent or broker.
