Karnataka Transfers IAS Rohini Sindhuri and IPS D Roopa After Public Clash on Social Media

The Karnataka government has transferred IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and IPS officer D Roopa without giving them any new roles after a public fight on social media over personal pictures.

D Roopa’s husband, IAS officer Munish Moudgil, was also transferred.

This issue started when Roopa shared personal pictures of Sindhuri on social media, accusing her of misconduct and claiming that Sindhuri sent these photos to some male officers. Roopa also posted other allegations about Sindhuri’s actions.

In response, Sindhuri called the accusations false and baseless, saying Roopa was making personal attacks due to hatred and was behaving as if she was mentally unstable. She added that Roopa gathered photos from social media and WhatsApp to damage her reputation.

Sindhuri has filed a complaint with Karnataka Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma and said she will take legal action under criminal laws, including sections of the Indian Penal Code. Both officers submitted complaints and counter-complaints to the state government.

Talking to the media, Sindhuri demanded that Roopa reveal the names of the male officers who allegedly received the photos. She also emphasized that mental health issues, especially in people with responsibility, can become dangerous if left untreated.

Sindhuri accused Roopa of running a false and personal defamation campaign, something she claimed Roopa has done to others in the past as well.

Karnataka’s Home Minister, Araga Jnanendra, said the matter had been discussed with the police chief and that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was also aware. He criticized both officers for behaving in a way that even “normal people on the street wouldn’t do.”

The minister added, “They can handle personal issues privately, but bringing it to the media like this is wrong. Strict action will be taken.”
