Bengaluru Man Surprised by Swiggy Delivery Hero with Disability
A Bengaluru man, who was impatiently waiting for his delayed Swiggy order, received a heartwarming surprise when a delivery executive with a disability brought his food.
Rohit Kumar Singh shared his experience on LinkedIn, narrating the story of Swiggy delivery executive Krishnappa Rathod.
Rohit mentioned that his food was estimated to be delivered in about 30 minutes. When it didn’t arrive on time, he called the delivery executive, who politely said, “I will be there in some time, sir.”
As the delay continued, Rohit called again, feeling increasingly impatient. The delivery executive responded calmly, saying he would arrive in 5 minutes.
“After another 5-10 minutes, the doorbell rang. I opened the door, ready to express my disappointment, but was taken aback by what I saw,” Rohit wrote.
Standing at the door was a middle-aged man with grey hair, balancing himself with crutches and holding the food order with a gracious smile.
“I was numb for a second and felt stupid for getting impatient while sitting comfortably. I wondered about the struggles he went through to deliver my order. I immediately apologized and tried to have a conversation,” said Rohit.
Krishnappa shared that he lost his job at a cafe during the pandemic and turned to food delivery to support his family. He couldn’t bring his children to Bangalore for better education due to his circumstances.
After a brief conversation, Krishnappa excused himself, saying, “Sir, I am getting late for my next delivery,” and left.
This encounter reminded Rohit of the courage and determination some people have to face life’s challenges head-on.
