A 39-year-old woman, Suchana Seth, CEO of the startup company The Mindful AI Lab, was arrested for allegedly murdering her four-year-old son in Goa. She was apprehended while attempting to flee to Karnataka with the child’s body in a bag, according to a police report on January 9.
On January 6, Suchana Seth checked into a rented service apartment in Candolim, North Goa, with her son. Two days later, she informed the apartment staff that she needed to travel to Bengaluru for work and requested a taxi. Despite the staff suggesting a cheaper flight, she insisted on the taxi.
When the apartment staff went to clean her room, they discovered blood stains on a towel. Noticing her unusually heavy bag and the absence of her son, they alerted the Calangute police.
Inspector Paresh Naik of Calangute police contacted Suchana Seth, who claimed the blood stains were from her menstrual cycle and that her son was with a friend in Margao, South Goa. However, the provided address was fake.
Naik then coordinated with the taxi driver, who was en route to Bengaluru, to redirect to the nearest police station in Chitradurga, Karnataka. The Ayamangala police detained Suchana Seth following the Goa police’s instructions. A search of the vehicle revealed the child’s dead body.
Dharmender Kumar Meena, Chitradurga SP, confirmed that the driver complied with police instructions, leading to the discovery and detention of Suchana Seth. She was handed over to Goa police after presenting her before the magistrate in Hiriyur.
The post-mortem of the child’s body is set to be conducted in Hiriyur, Chitradurga. The police have informed Venkat Raman, the husband of Suchana Seth, who is currently in Jakarta, Indonesia.
