In a shocking event, a 30-year-old woman in Maharashtra’s Nanded district allegedly killed her infant daughter and two-year-old son because they wouldn’t stop crying. She later burned their bodies in a field with the help of her mother and brother, according to the police.
The accused, Dhurpadabai Ganpat Nimalwad, was arrested on Thursday along with her mother, Kondabai Rajemod, and brother, Madhav Rajemod. They were involved in disposing of the children’s bodies, said a police official.
“Dhurpadabai allegedly strangled her four-month-old daughter, Anusuya, on May 31 because she wouldn’t stop crying. The next day, she killed her son, Datta, in the same way after he cried for food,” the official reported.
The murders occurred in Pandurna village over two consecutive days—May 31 and June 1. On June 1, with the help of her mother and brother, Dhurpadabai burned the children’s bodies on a pyre in a field. Both accomplices are residents of Mukhed taluka.
This tragic event has shocked the community and highlights the need for mental health awareness and support for parents under stress.
