Woman Arrested for Killing Husband to Reunite with Lover
The Yeshwanthpur police arrested a 27-year-old woman on April 29 for allegedly murdering her husband to be with her lover. The accused, Dilli Rani, and her husband, Shankar Reddy, who was an accountant at a private firm, hailed from Andhra Pradesh and lived in Yeshwanthpur with their seven-year-old son.
On the night of April 28, their son woke up and found his parents lying in a pool of blood. He ran to their landlord’s house for help. The police were called, and the couple was taken to a private hospital where doctors declared Reddy dead. Dilli Rani had cuts on her hand. She initially told the police that an unidentified man entered the house, attacked them with a knife, and stole her gold chain before escaping.
The police found inconsistencies in her statement. Inspector K. Suresh noticed that the gold chain was still intact. “Upon analyzing the crime scene, we saw no signs of forced entry. The injuries she sustained were self-inflicted to make it look like a robbery,” said a police officer.
Further investigation of Rani’s mobile phone revealed she was having an extramarital affair. Confronted with the evidence, Rani allegedly confessed to murdering her husband. The police recovered the knife she used and are now searching for her lover to uncover the full truth.
