Gurugram Woman Arrested for Filing False Rape Case and Demanding Rs 10 Lakh

Gurugram Woman Arrested for Filing False Rape Case and Demanding Rs 10 Lakh

A woman in Gurugram has been arrested for trying to extort Rs 10 lakh from a man by falsely accusing him of rape. The case was registered at the Sector 40 police station after complaints from both parties.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to the police, the man and the woman met at a hotel room in South City 1 on April 13 through a mutual friend. After spending a few hours together, the woman later filed a police complaint, alleging that the man had raped her.

However, the accused also approached the police, claiming that the woman had asked for Rs 10 lakh in exchange for withdrawing the case.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Once both complaints were received, the police devised a plan to uncover the truth. They provided the man with a mobile phone and asked him to record his conversation with the woman.

The recorded call confirmed that the woman was indeed demanding money. Based on this evidence, the police registered a case under Section 389 of the Indian Penal Code (extortion by threatening false accusations) and arrested the woman.

This case highlights the importance of thorough investigations in legal matters and the consequences of filing false allegations.
