38-Year-Old Man Sets Himself on Fire Outside Police Station After Fight with Wife

In a tragic incident near Hebbagodi, Karnataka, a 38-year-old man named Ratesh succumbed to burns after setting himself on fire outside Jigani police station on August 25. This heartbreaking event followed a domestic dispute with his wife, Kavitha.

Ratesh, frustrated after an argument with his wife, followed her to the police station. Kavitha had gone there to file a complaint against him. Upon arrival, Ratesh parked his bike, poured petrol on himself, and ignited the flames.

Police officers quickly intervened, extinguishing the fire and rushing Ratesh to the hospital. However, he had sustained over 80% burns and tragically did not survive.

The couple, married for 10 years, had been experiencing a troubled relationship for the past five years, frequently clashing over minor issues. Ratesh, originally from Chikkamagaluru, worked for a private company in the Jigani Industrial area.

This incident highlights the severe impact of unresolved domestic issues and the desperate actions they can provoke.
