Maharashtra Woman Arrested for Murder After Daughter Finds Audio Confession
In a shocking case from Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, a woman was arrested for killing her husband three months after his death. The crime was uncovered when her daughter discovered an audio recording in which the woman confessed to the murder.
According to the police, Ranjana Ramteke, the accused, killed her husband, a retired government officer, on August 6 while he was asleep. Soon after committing the crime, she called her lover and casually admitted to the murder over the phone.
“I suffocated him with a pillow. In the morning, I will inform our relatives and tell them he had a heart attack,” she was heard saying in the recording.
The next day, Ranjana informed her family about her husband’s “sudden death,” and the body was cremated without suspicion. For three months, no one questioned her story. However, her plan fell apart when her daughter, Shweta, came to visit.
While borrowing her mother’s phone to make calls, Shweta found the recorded conversation between Ranjana and her lover, Mukesh Trivedi. In the audio, Ranjana described how she killed her husband and staged his death. Shocked by the discovery, Shweta immediately reported her mother to the police.
“Shweta came to the police station with the recording, which contained Ranjana’s confession to Mukesh. She described suffocating her husband and pretending it was a heart attack,” a senior police officer stated.
After listening to the recording, the police summoned both Ranjana and Mukesh. When confronted with the evidence, they admitted to the crime and were arrested.
