In a shocking incident near Nandi Hills, Karnataka, a woman and her relatives have been accused of extorting Rs 21 lakh and other valuables from her former boyfriend following their breakup.
The incident occurred on June 16 and 17 at a resort near Nandi Hills. A case has been filed at the Nandi Hills police station in Chikkaballapur district.
Vijay Singh, an IT professional from Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, had been in a relationship with Bhavana Reddy from Proddatur for the past 18 months. Despite Bhavana’s father, Venkateswara Reddy, taking time to arrange their wedding, the couple’s relationship deteriorated, leading to their breakup a few weeks prior.
On June 16, 2023, Bhavana’s relative, Pulla Reddy, invited Vijay to a party. Upon arriving at Devanahalli, Vijay was taken to a resort near Nandi Hills by Pulla Reddy and his accomplices. There, they attacked him with pepper spray, a belt, and a rope, causing injuries to his back and thigh. They also recorded a video call to show Vijay’s condition to Bhavana.
The next day, Bhavana arrived at the scene, verbally abused Vijay, and demanded Rs 30 lakh. She insisted that Vijay should not reveal their relationship. When Vijay claimed he only had Rs 8 lakh, Bhavana instructed him to take a loan via a mobile app. Once the loan was approved and his account had Rs 21 lakh, Bhavana forced him to transfer Rs 15 lakh to her relative Nageswara Reddy and Rs 5 lakh to Sudhir, an accomplice of Pulla Reddy. Additionally, Rs 50,000 each was transferred to two other accomplices.
They also stole Vijay’s gold chain, laptop, and iPhone before abandoning him near Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru. Following Vijay’s complaint on June 19, police have arrested Bhavana Reddy and Pulla Reddy.
