Indian Girl Students Safely Evacuated From Kharkiv After PM Modi Speaks to Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the safety of Indian students trapped in the war-hit city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. More than 1,000 Indian students, including many girls, were stranded in the conflict zone.

Following this conversation, Indian girl students were successfully evacuated with the help of the Russian government. They were transported by train to Ukraine’s western border—a journey that takes around 20 hours.

The Indian government is also working on evacuating the remaining students, including the boys, as soon as possible.

According to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, PM Modi and President Putin discussed the overall situation in Ukraine and specifically focused on Kharkiv, where many Indian nationals were stuck due to ongoing military operations.

The safe movement of the students marks a significant step in India’s efforts to rescue its citizens from Ukraine during the ongoing conflict. The government continues to prioritize the safety and return of all Indian nationals, especially students, through ongoing diplomatic efforts and special rescue missions.
