Woman and Lawyers Arrested for Fake Rape Case and Extortion in Agra

The Agra police recently arrested a woman and three lawyers for extorting ₹5 lakh from a man by filing a fake rape case. The incident came to light after a detailed investigation revealed the complaint was fabricated to extract money.

Fake Rape Allegation and Initial Complaint

According to Superintendent of Police (City) Vikas Kumar, a woman filed a complaint on June 24 at Hari Parvat police station, accusing a man named Rahul Kumar of rape. She claimed that Rahul invited her to a hotel under the pretext of a birthday party, where he allegedly drugged her, took obscene photos, and later threatened her.

Based on her complaint, a case was registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (376/504/506/328) against Rahul and his family members.

Investigation Uncovers the Truth

The investigation, led by Inspector Arvind Singh and Sub-Inspector Neelam, revealed that the rape case was fake. Further inquiries exposed that lawyers from both sides, including those representing the alleged victim and the accused, were involved in extorting money from Rahul.

Arrests and Legal Action

On Tuesday, a new case was registered against the woman who filed the false complaint and three lawyers identified as Jitendra Rajput, Nishant Kumar, and Shekhar Pratap Singh. Two more lawyers, including a female lawyer, were named as co-accused, and police are actively searching for them.

The woman and three lawyers were arrested, and ₹3.75 lakh in cash was recovered from them. The case was registered under multiple sections, including 388 (extortion by threat of false accusation), 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating), 182 (false information), and 195 (false evidence).

Court Proceedings

Inspector Arvind Kumar of Hari Parvat police station confirmed that the accused were presented in court on Wednesday. They have been sent to jail pending further investigation.

Conclusion

This incident highlights the misuse of legal provisions for personal gain and the importance of thorough investigations in such cases. The Agra police’s swift action ensured justice and exposed the individuals behind the extortion scheme.
