Ex-Navy Officer Murdered by Wife and Son, Body Dismembered in West Bengal

A disturbing murder case has emerged from Baruipur, a town 40 km from Kolkata, where a 55-year-old former Navy officer, Ujjawal Chakraborty, was killed by his wife, Shyamali Chakraborty, and their 25-year-old son, Raju Chakraborty. The murder happened on November 14, following a family argument over paying Raju’s examination fees of Rs 3,000.

According to the police, Ujjawal was an alcoholic and often assaulted his son. The argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, Raju strangled his father. The family then decided to dismember the body into six parts to hide the crime.

The body parts were disposed of over several trips made by Raju on his cycle. He dumped the remains in different spots within a 500-meter radius, including ponds and bushes. Two days later, on November 17, some body parts, including the head, started floating in a nearby pond, leading to a police investigation.

The police traced the victim’s locality through a plastic bag found with the head, which belonged to a local garment store. The family had aroused suspicion earlier when they filed a missing person report on November 15, just hours after disposing of the body.

After an extended interrogation, both the mother and son confessed to the crime. So far, the police have recovered four of the six body parts, including the head, waist, and legs. The search continues for the missing hands.

Ujjawal had worked as a security guard at a private firm. His wife and son are currently in police custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
