In Sultanpuri, Delhi, a woman allegedly bit off her husband’s right ear during a heated argument on Sunday, forcing him to undergo surgery. The 45-year-old victim reported the incident to the authorities, explaining that the top part of his right ear was severed, necessitating medical intervention. Following the surgery, the man filed a complaint against his wife.
The husband recounted the incident to the police, stating, “I went to throw garbage outside my house around 9:20 am on November 20. I asked my wife to clean the house. Soon after I returned home, my wife started fighting with me over an unknown issue.”
He further explained that his wife demanded he sell their house and give her a share so she could live separately with their children. “I tried to reason with her, but a verbal altercation followed. She even tried to hit me, but I pushed her away. As I was walking out of the house, she grabbed me from behind and, in a fit of rage, bit my right ear so hard that the upper portion got dismembered. My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment,” he added.
Police received information about the attack from the hospital on November 20 and dispatched a team to investigate. Initially, the victim was too unwell to give a statement. He requested to visit the police station later to provide his account. On November 22, he approached the police and filed a written complaint.
A senior police officer stated, “An FIR has been registered against the woman under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is in progress.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to determine the full circumstances surrounding the altercation.
