Delhi Police ASI Dies by Suicide, Cites Harassment by In-Laws
On August 22, 2022, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police, Satish Kumar, allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in Brahmanagar, Sonepat. Authorities recovered a suicide note where he blamed his in-laws for driving him to take the extreme step.
Harassment Over Unpaid Debt
In the note, Kumar alleged that his in-laws borrowed ₹15 lakh from him but refused to repay the amount. Instead, they reportedly filed a false case against him, causing severe distress.
Inspector Vazir Chand, SHO of City Police, confirmed that a case has been registered against five relatives, including Kumar’s father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law from Kateveda village in Delhi.
Family Statements and Investigation
Kumar’s son, Pankaj, revealed that his mother passed away in 2020. Since then, financial disputes with his maternal uncles escalated, ultimately contributing to his father’s death.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case to uncover further details. This tragic incident underscores the need for addressing financial disputes and harassment issues within families.
