Delhi Double Murder: Woman and Lover Kill Husband and Mother-in-Law
The Delhi Police have arrested 29-year-old Monika Verma and her boyfriend Ashish for the brutal murders of Monika’s husband and mother-in-law. The investigation revealed shocking details about the motive behind the crime.
The Motive
Monika admitted to killing her husband and mother-in-law because they were obstructing her affair with Ashish. The family discovered Monika’s affair through explicit chats and imposed strict restrictions on her. They took away her smartphone and monitored her movements closely. Despite these measures, Monika continued her affair with Ashish through phone calls and secret meetings.
The Affair
Monika married Ravi in 2016 and had a son. She met Ashish, a bodybuilder and bouncer, in August 2020 while working at a call center. Their relationship quickly turned intimate, and they started meeting at hotels. When Ashish’s mother found out that Monika was married, she opposed the relationship, but Monika and Ashish continued seeing each other.
The Crime
The situation escalated when Monika’s husband discovered her explicit chats with Ashish. Monika felt increasingly trapped as her mother-in-law, Veena, kept a constant watch on her. Feeling like she was in a prison, Monika decided to take drastic action.
In December 2022, Monika and Ashish began planning the murders. On February 20, 2023, they met at a hotel to finalize their plan. On the night of the murder, Monika called Ashish to her home while her mother-in-law was out shopping. Ashish hid on the terrace until midnight, then he and Monika killed Ravi and Veena.
The Investigation
The double murder was discovered the next morning at around 7 am. Neighbors reported frequent fights between Monika and her mother-in-law. CCTV footage captured Ashish arriving on his bike the night of the murder.
Based on suspicion, the police interrogated Monika and uncovered two SIM cards used exclusively to communicate with Ashish. Under further questioning, Monika confessed to the murders.
