Bride Slashes Fiancé’s Throat After Luring Him on a Surprise Date in Andhra Pradesh

In a shocking event, a 22-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh slashed her fiancé’s throat during a surprise date to avoid an arranged marriage. The incident took place near Kommalapudi village in Butchayyapeta mandal, Anakapalle district. The woman, who had been engaged to a man named Ramanaidu against her wishes, took him to an isolated location and attacked him.

Ramanaidu, 28, a research scholar at the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) in Hyderabad, suffered severe bleeding but is now recovering in a hospital. He had gotten engaged to the woman on April 4. The woman lured him to a hilltop next to Vishwa Santhi Jyothirmayi Ashram, where she bought a knife and allegedly slashed his throat. After the attack, Ramanaidu managed to tie a dupatta around his wound to stop the bleeding and called for help.

Passersby noticed the injured man and took him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed there were no deep cuts, but the slashing of superficial veins caused heavy bleeding. Ramanaidu had initially called emergency services but struggled to describe his location due to his unfamiliarity with the area.

The woman has been arrested and charged under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attempted murder. During the investigation, she confessed to the crime, stating she didn’t want to get married. She expressed her desire to remain single and live a peaceful life, similar to women who live in ashrams dedicated to serving God.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sunil Kumar stated that the woman feared expressing her reluctance about the marriage to either Ramanaidu or her parents, fearing their reaction. Her decision to attack was driven by her desire to avoid the marriage and live independently. She is currently in judicial remand, and the investigation is ongoing.

This case highlights the extreme measures some individuals may take to avoid unwanted marriages, leading to serious legal and emotional consequences for all involved.
