Woman Files Complaint After Discovering Husband Is Gay in Karnataka
A 29-year-old woman from Shivamogga, Karnataka, has filed a police complaint accusing her husband of hiding his sexual orientation and mentally and physically abusing her. The couple had been married since 2020.
The complaint was registered at the Jnanabharathi police station. The police have booked the husband under IPC Sections 498A (domestic violence), 420 (cheating and dishonesty), and 34 (common intention).
The woman said she became suspicious after two years of marriage when they failed to conceive and her husband avoided any physical intimacy. He suggested she undergo medical tests but never disclosed the real reason behind their lack of closeness.
“He kept making excuses whenever I tried to get intimate. He even made me take medical tests without telling me the truth about his sexuality,” she said.
Despite trying In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), the couple could not have a child. Later, the woman discovered through her husband’s social media that he is gay.
When she confronted him, he allegedly assaulted her. After that, she returned to her parents. She also stated in her complaint that her husband and his family tried to bring her back, but she refused. She added that he even threatened to take his own life.
The investigation is ongoing.
