Thiruvananthapuram College Student Poisoned by Girlfriend Over Breakup Dispute

College Student Poisoned by Girlfriend for Refusing Breakup in Thiruvananthapuram

A shocking incident occurred in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, where a 23-year-old college student named Sharon was allegedly poisoned by his girlfriend, Greeshma. According to the police, the motive behind the crime was his refusal to end their relationship.

The tragic incident took place on October 14, when Greeshma invited Sharon to her house. There, she gave him a drink mixed with a pesticide called Kapiq, which she had added to an ayurvedic mixture. Sharon started vomiting shortly after consuming the drink and was later taken to the hospital by a friend. He battled for his life for 10 days but sadly passed away on October 25 at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

After 8 hours of interrogation, Greeshma confessed to poisoning Sharon. The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) stated that the murder was premeditated and that Greeshma had been planning it for some time.

The two had been in a relationship for a year. Problems began in early 2022 when Greeshma’s marriage was arranged with someone else. Despite this, they continued seeing each other. Later, when Sharon did not agree to break up, she tried different methods to make him end the relationship. In one such attempt, she falsely told him that her horoscope predicted the death of her first husband.

Sharon’s brother had tried to find out what Greeshma had given him, but she stayed silent out of fear. Police believe that if she had told the truth earlier, Sharon’s life might have been saved.

Although Sharon did not accuse anyone in his dying statement recorded on October 20, his family strongly believes it was a planned murder. Now, after her confession, Greeshma has been taken into police custody.

This tragic case highlights how toxic relationships and emotional pressure can lead to devastating crimes.
