Woman Declared Dead 7 Years Ago Found Alive and Married; Man Jailed for Her ‘Murder’

In a shocking turn of events that feels like a movie plot, a woman who was declared dead seven years ago in Uttar Pradesh has now been found alive and married, while a man continues to languish in jail for her supposed murder.

According to the police, the woman had eloped with her lover when she was a teenager and later got married. The couple moved to Hathras district and started a new life. However, at that time, the woman’s father wrongly identified an unidentified body found in Agra as that of his missing daughter. Based on this, Vishnu, a local youth, was arrested and jailed for allegedly kidnapping and murdering her.

Years later, Vishnu’s mother approached Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani, claiming that the “dead” girl was alive, married, and even had children. Acting on this tip, the SSP ordered a fresh investigation, which confirmed the woman’s existence.

Following the new findings, the woman was presented before a court in Aligarh, and police have requested a DNA test to officially confirm her identity. Shockingly, the woman’s father again identified her as his daughter, the same person he had earlier declared dead.

The case has raised serious questions about the initial investigation, wrongful imprisonment, and the need for accurate forensic procedures.

Authorities are now looking into the matter further to determine how such a major mistake occurred, and whether Vishnu, who has spent several years in prison, will be released and compensated for the false charges.
