Woman Climbs Mobile Tower to Demand Boyfriend Marry Her

A 20-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district created a stir on Friday by climbing a 50-meter-high mobile tower to demand that her boyfriend marry her. The incident attracted a large crowd and caused traffic congestion on a nearby highway, prompting police to manage the situation.

Incident Details

The woman climbed the mobile tower near the Semra Raja toll plaza area. She had been in a relationship with a 24-year-old local man for several years and wanted to convince him and his family to agree to their marriage.

Police Intervention

Circle Officer (CO) Ajay Singh Chauhan reported that the police initially tried to persuade the woman to come down voluntarily. When she refused, a constable had to climb the tower to bring her down safely.

Relationship Background

According to the woman, she and the man, a truck driver, had been dating for two years. However, he was reluctant to marry her and had recently gone missing. His family claimed he was in Nepal on a work trip. Following the incident, police lodged a case against the man under IPC section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and mentioned that necessary action would also be taken against the woman.
