Woman and Her Lover Allegedly Murder NRI Husband’s Parents and Set Bodies on Fire in Tanda Village

In a shocking incident from January 2022, a woman and her lover have been accused of murdering her NRI husband’s parents and burning their bodies in their Tanda village home.

The woman, who is married to an NRI husband living abroad, allegedly strangled and stabbed her father-in-law and mother-in-law with the help of her lover, a granthi (priest) at a local gurdwara. The woman had reportedly become enraged with her in-laws for obstructing her extramarital relationship with the granthi.

Initially, the woman attempted to frame the incident as a robbery and murder. However, the police investigation revealed the true nature of the crime. Both the woman and her lover have been arrested and charged with murder.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ravinder Singh, the victim’s son, had recently returned from Portugal. On January 1, he left his home around 11 a.m. and returned around 10:15 p.m. to find the house locked from the inside and smoke coming out. He broke open the door and found his wife, Mandeep Kaur, tied to a chair. When he untied her, she told him that three people had entered the house, bound her, and started the fire.

The DSP’s investigation revealed that Mandeep’s lover, Jasmeet Singh, originally from Sanghar village in Amritsar and working as a granthi in Data village, was involved in the crime. Mandeep saw her in-laws as obstacles to her affair with Jasmeet. After her husband left, Mandeep called Jasmeet to the house, where they killed her in-laws and set their bodies on fire to destroy evidence. They also stole jewelry from the house, which was later recovered by the police from Jasmeet.

Ravinder Singh had moved to Portugal shortly after his marriage. He became aware of his wife’s frequent late-night phone conversations with an unknown person and had warned her against the affair. Despite several disputes and threats from Mandeep to kill his parents, Ravinder decided to visit India on December 7 of the previous year.
