Woman Arrested for Public Indecency in Santacruz, Mumbai
A homeowner and his female guest were arrested for alleged public indecency in a residential complex in Santacruz, Mumbai. Residents of Raman SRA CHS in Vakola, Santacruz East, reported that the woman was seen roaming naked and performing obscene acts in the building’s common areas last week.
According to the complaint, the incident came to light when residents reviewed CCTV footage after an electric bulb went missing near the lift on the fifth floor. The footage showed the woman stepping out of a flat without any clothes around 11:30 PM on a Monday.
At the time of the incident, the woman’s host was in the flat with another male friend. The complaint stated that the host was aware of his guest’s actions and her state of undress.
Residents also mentioned that the man has been bringing unknown female guests to his flat for years. Despite previous warnings about his behavior, he continued to visit the flat with various women, causing discomfort among the other residents.
“We have overlooked previous instances of indecent behavior, but we cannot ignore a woman performing obscene acts in the common areas of the building,” a resident stated.
Police have booked the woman and her host under sections 294 (performing obscene acts in public) and 114 (abetment) of the Indian Penal Code.
