Woman and Host Booked for Obscene Behavior in Public at Santacruz Society
The Mumbai Police have filed a case against a woman and her male host for allegedly roaming naked and performing indecent acts in the common areas of a housing society in Santacruz East.
According to the police, the incident happened at Raman SRA CHS in Vakola, where a woman guest staying at a fifth-floor flat was seen naked in the corridor around 11:30 PM last Monday. Residents discovered the incident while reviewing CCTV footage after an electric bulb near the lift went missing.
The society members claimed the woman was not only without clothes but also engaged in obscene acts at different spots in the building compound. They alleged that her host, a flat owner, was aware of her actions.
The complaint further stated that the host had a history of bringing unknown women to the flat. Although he lives with his family in another building, he frequently visits this flat and has been warned earlier for inappropriate behavior.
“In the past, the man was seen engaging in indecent acts with other female friends, which led to tension with fellow residents,” the complaint added. However, the society members had chosen to ignore previous incidents—until this recent case crossed the line.
“This time, we couldn’t overlook the seriousness of the act. A woman walking around naked and acting inappropriately in public areas is unacceptable,” said a resident.
Following the complaint, police booked the woman and her host under Section 294 (obscene acts in public) and Section 114 (abetment when the person abetting is present) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police investigations are ongoing.
