Mumbai Woman Booked for Abandoning Newborn in Hotel Toilet After Marital Dispute
A 41-year-old woman was booked by Mumbai Police for abandoning her newborn baby in the dustbin of a toilet at a five-star hotel in Mumbai.
The shocking incident was discovered around 10:30 am when a housekeeping staff member went to clean the toilet and heard a baby crying. The hotel immediately alerted the N M Joshi Marg police station, and a case was registered. Police identified the woman through CCTV footage.
The baby, a newborn boy, was rushed to Nair Hospital and admitted to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Doctors confirmed that the child is in stable condition.
The woman, a resident of Goregaon (East), told police during an initial inquiry that she had visited the hotel for some personal work. She went into sudden labour and delivered the child in the restroom. Due to ongoing personal disputes with her husband, she claimed she abandoned the baby out of distress.
Police are continuing the investigation, and further legal action will follow based on medical and forensic reports.
