MP Woman Facing Extortion Charges After Filing Multiple False Rape Cases
A 27-year-old woman from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who previously filed false rape cases against four men, is now under investigation for extortion and criminal intimidation. This development comes after two men lodged complaints against her.
The woman’s accusations against three of the men included claims of rape under the “pretext of marriage,” forced unnatural sex, taking videos and photographs without consent, and threats to leak those online. These complaints led to the registration of multiple FIRs: one in February 2016, two in March and April 2019, two in February and October 2021, and one in March 2023 in Jabalpur.
As a result of her complaints, two of the accused were arrested. One managed to get a stay from the Supreme Court, while another received anticipatory bail from a lower court.
The situation took a turn when a fifth man, against whom she had also filed a rape complaint, approached the Jabalpur district court seeking relief. He alleged that the woman was threatening to implicate him in a rape case unless he paid her money.
Following this, one of the four previously accused men approached the court with similar claims. After reviewing the evidence, the Jabalpur district court ordered that a case under IPC sections for extortion and criminal intimidation be registered against the woman.
The woman has been summoned to court on September 22. If she fails to appear, an arrest warrant will be issued against her.
Jabalpur Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Bahuguna, stated, “The woman got over five cases of rape registered against different men over a period of time. The men have alleged that she was extorting money. The court has taken cognizance of the complaint and has registered a case. The court will be looking into this case.”
The woman has dismissed the allegations as “baseless.” She claims she loved each of the men and they all “broke her trust,” denying any extortion attempts.
The court’s decision to investigate these claims marks a significant turn in this ongoing legal saga, highlighting the importance of due process and the potential consequences of false accusations.
