Hyderabad Man Ends Life Due to Harassment by Wife and In-Laws
On July 2, 2023, 38-year-old M. Venkat Reddy consumed pesticide at his home in Hyderabad’s Kushaiguda area after facing harassment from his wife and in-laws. Sadly, he passed away in the hospital on July 5.
Venkat Reddy’s wife, Kalyani, was unhappy living with his mother. She and her parents pressured Reddy to send his mother away. Two months ago, Kalyani moved to her parents’ house in Warangal. On July 2, she returned with her parents to Reddy’s home and started an argument. They insisted that he live separately from his mother and transfer property to his two daughters, aged seven and two-and-a-half years.
Reddy pleaded with them to lower their voices to avoid causing a scene in the neighborhood. When they ignored his request, he warned them that their behavior was pushing him to contemplate ending his life. They mocked him, suggesting he wouldn’t dare to follow through. Feeling humiliated, Reddy consumed pesticide that day.
Following this tragic event, Reddy’s sister filed a police complaint against Kalyani and her parents, seeking justice for her brother’s death.
