Man Booked for Abandoning Lover Instead of Dying Together in Prayagraj

In a plot twist resembling a Bollywood movie, two lovers decided to end their lives together but the story took an unexpected turn. Both individuals were married to other people and were involved in an extramarital affair. Faced with societal pressure, they decided to commit suicide by jumping into the Yamuna River.

The woman jumped into the river, but the man, valuing his life, chose not to follow her. Betrayed and shocked by his actions, the woman, who could swim, made her way back to the riverbank. The 32-year-old woman, a mother of a six-year-old daughter, has now filed an FIR against Chandu, a 30-year-old resident of Jhunsi.

The woman had been in a relationship with Chandu for several years. A few months ago, she moved to Pune with her daughter. During her absence, Chandu married another woman without informing her. When she returned to Prayagraj on May 18, they had a heated argument over this issue. Chandu promised to divorce his wife and marry her, but he kept hesitating.

After many disputes, they eventually decided to end their lives together. On May 29, they met on the New Yamuna Bridge. The woman claimed she jumped first, but Chandu did not follow her. She managed to swim back to safety.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway. Circle Officer Santosh Singh stated that an FIR has been lodged against Chandu for attempted murder and damaging the woman’s mobile phone. The woman was admitted to the hospital following the incident.
