IIT-JEE Aspirant From UP Beaten to Death by Fellow Students in Kota
In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old IIT-JEE aspirant from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly beaten to death by fellow students in Kota, Rajasthan. The student, identified as Satyaveer Singh, also known as Raunak, was attacked with iron rods following a heated argument at a tea stall in Indira Vihar on the night of November 11.
Satyaveer, a resident of Karmakar village in UP’s Deoria district, had been living in Kota for a year and a half to prepare for the IIT-JEE entrance exam. He was rushed to the hospital after the attack but sadly succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.
His father, Tarkeshwar Singh, who works as a vendor, received a heartbreaking call from the Kota police confirming his son’s death. His wife, Reema, who had been staying with their son, also confirmed the tragic news.
Tarkeshwar shared his sorrow, saying that he had sent his only son to Kota to prepare for one of the most prestigious engineering entrance exams, but now, he was bringing his son’s body home. Satyaveer had been a student at Sarasvati Vidya Mandir in Gorakhpur before going to Kota for coaching.
The incident took place when Satyaveer got into a verbal altercation with some students at a local tea stall. What started as a heated exchange escalated into violence, with the other students attacking him with iron rods and chains. According to Bhiwani Singh, Circle Officer of Kota, Satyaveer returned to his room after the attack but his condition worsened. His friends rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late.
The police have identified six out of the eight accused in the case and registered charges under relevant sections of the law. However, Satyaveer’s father is demanding that the assailants be charged with murder.
This tragic incident has left the community of Karmakar village devastated, with Ramesh Kushwaha, the village head, mourning the loss of a bright young student. Satyaveer had been full of promise, preparing for his future in Kota, a city known for its IIT-JEE coaching institutes.
