Grandfather Jumps from Building After Being Denied Meeting Grandson

A tragic incident took place in Pune, where Namdev Sarodia, a senior citizen, jumped from a building after being prevented from meeting his grandson by his estranged daughter-in-law.

Namdev Sarodia and his wife had visited their son’s house to see their grandson. However, his daughter-in-law refused to let them in and forced them out. This heartbreaking event occurred between November and December 2018. Now, after four years, the police have registered a case following a complaint from Namdev’s son.

Legal Action Taken

A case has been filed against Shalini (the estranged wife), her mother Manilata Sharma, and her brother Shekhar Sharma. The complaint was lodged by Sandeep Namdev Sarodia, 52, a resident of Baner, at Chaturshringi police station.

Sandeep and Shalini got divorced due to ongoing family disputes. In November 2018, Sandeep’s father went to Shalini’s house to visit his grandson but was forcibly removed by his in-laws. Despite being ill, Namdev longed to meet his grandson, but his request was repeatedly denied. This deeply affected his mental health, leading him to jump from the fourth floor of a building after writing a suicide note.

Delayed Complaint and Investigation

Sandeep Sarodia informed the police that the complaint was delayed because the family was waiting for the official report on the suicide note and also due to his mother’s medical treatment. Now, four years later, the police have taken action.

Assistant Police Inspector S. Gaikwad is currently investigating the case.

This tragic event has sparked discussions on family disputes and the rights of grandparents to meet their grandchildren.
