Egyptian Association for Men’s Rights Established to Protect Family Law Rights
In a landmark decision, the Directorate of Social Affairs in Giza, Egypt, has approved the establishment of the Egyptian Association for the Defense of the Rights of Men and Children. This marks the first organization in Egypt dedicated to defending men’s rights in family law matters.
Ahmed Matar Rizk, a lawyer and chairman of the association’s board of directors, highlighted the association’s mission to uphold the integrity of the Egyptian family amidst a rising number of divorce cases. He emphasized that the association aims to protect men’s legal rights, safeguarding them from abuse, harassment, imprisonment, and loss of child custody, particularly when divorce is initiated by the wife.
Until now, legal protections in Egypt primarily favored women when divorce proceedings were initiated. The establishment of this association represents a significant step towards ensuring gender equality and fairness in family law proceedings in Egypt.
The initiative has been welcomed as a crucial development in Egypt’s legal landscape, aiming to provide balanced legal representation and support for men facing family law challenges.
