College Student Poisoned by Girlfriend for Refusing to Break Up in Thiruvananthapuram
In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old college student was poisoned by his girlfriend in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for refusing to end their relationship. The girlfriend, Greeshma, poisoned Sharon by giving him a drink laced with pesticides on October 14. Sharon died in the hospital after 10 days.
Police revealed that Greeshma confessed to the crime after eight hours of questioning. She admitted to poisoning Sharon because he did not agree to break up with her.
Greeshma invited Sharon to her house and mixed a pesticide called Kapiq into an ayurvedic drink. Sharon vomited immediately after consuming the drink and left with his friend. According to ADGP, Greeshma had planned the murder in advance and executed it when Sharon visited her home.
Greeshma and Sharon had been in a relationship for a year. Problems began in February 2022, and Greeshma’s family arranged her marriage to someone else. Despite this, the couple continued their relationship. When issues resurfaced recently, Greeshma decided to kill Sharon to end the relationship, having tried various ways to convince him to break up.
Greeshma even concocted a story to scare Sharon, claiming her horoscope predicted her first husband would die. When Sharon fell ill, his brother repeatedly called Greeshma to find out what she had given him, but she kept silent out of fear. Sharon passed away on October 25 at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. His family accused Greeshma of premeditated murder. The magistrate recorded Sharon’s death statement on October 20, and police took his statement on October 21, in which Sharon expressed no suspicion towards anyone.
Greeshma was taken into custody after confessing to the crime during the intense interrogation.
