College Student Poisoned by Girlfriend in Thiruvananthapuram for Refusing to Break Up

In a shocking case from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a 23-year-old college student was poisoned by his girlfriend after he refused to break up with her. The incident occurred on October 14, when the woman, identified as Greeshma, mixed a pesticide in an ayurvedic drink and gave it to her boyfriend, Sharon. He was hospitalized but tragically died after 10 days of treatment.

After hours of questioning, Greeshma confessed to the crime. She admitted that she poisoned Sharon because he refused to end their year-long relationship, even after she was engaged to someone else.

According to police reports, Greeshma invited Sharon to her home, where she secretly mixed a pesticide called Kapiq into his drink. He became ill immediately after consuming the drink and later left with a friend. The police revealed that this was a premeditated act, as Greeshma had tried multiple times to make Sharon agree to break up.

Greeshma had even told Sharon a fabricated story, claiming that her horoscope predicted her first husband would die, in an attempt to scare him into leaving her.

“Sharon’s brother repeatedly called Greeshma to ask what she had given him, but she kept quiet out of fear. If she had revealed the truth, his life might have been saved,” said the ADGP.

Sharon passed away on October 25 at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. His family accused Greeshma of pre-planning the murder. Despite Sharon’s deathbed statement, recorded by the magistrate, in which he said he didn’t suspect anyone, Greeshma later confessed after an intense 8-hour interrogation. She is currently in police custody.
