Allahabad High Court Orders CBI Investigation into False Rape Cases Filed by Woman and Lawyer
The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into the actions of a woman and her lawyer, accusing them of filing false rape and other criminal cases against several men. The Court believes that the woman and her lawyer worked together to file false complaints to extract money from the accused.
The case began when one of the accused individuals filed a plea for protection from arrest after being named in an FIR (First Information Report) filed by the woman, Pooja Rawat. She had filed multiple complaints in the past, many of which were similar in nature. The petitioners argued that Rawat had filed 11 previous FIRs and was now filing her 12th case using the same lawyer, Advocate Parmanand Gupta.
The Court observed that there was a clear pattern of false complaints filed by Rawat and Gupta, all aimed at putting pressure on the accused men. The State counsel also confirmed that the same lawyer had filed numerous similar complaints on behalf of Rawat.
The bench, consisting of Justices Brij Raj Singh and Vivek Chaudhary, stated,
“It is apparent that the informant and her counsel are colluding to lodge false FIRs to create pressure on multiple people, aiming to extort money.”
In light of the serious nature of these allegations, the Court directed the CBI to investigate the matter and submit its findings by April 10. The Court also granted protection from arrest to the petitioners involved.
