Shocking Details Emerge in Delhi’s Anjan Das Murder Case
The Delhi crime branch has revealed horrific details in the Anjan Das murder case. According to Special CP Crime Ravinder Yadav, Anjan Das was murdered before June 5, when some of his mutilated body parts were found in a bag at the Ramlila Ground in Kalyanpuri, East Delhi.
The accused, Poonam, confessed to the crime. She was enraged upon discovering that her husband, Anjan Das, was already married and had sold her jewelry to send money to his first wife in Bihar, who lived with their eight children. Poonam also alleged that Anjan Das had ill intentions toward her stepdaughter and stepson’s wife, which led them to plan his murder.
Their son, Deepak, told the police that he agreed to the plan because Das allegedly harassed his wife. The duo spiked Das’s drink and killed him once he was unconscious. They left the body in the house overnight to let the blood dry. The next day, Deepak chopped up the body and stored the parts in polythene bags in a fridge. They later disposed of the body pieces, but a foul odor from the residence led to police complaints and an investigation.
Police found the body parts in June and identified them as Anjan Das’s. CCTV footage and door-to-door verification helped police piece together the events. Suspicion grew when they discovered that Das had been missing for six months, but no missing person report was filed by the mother-son duo.
After her arrest, Poonam admitted to the crime, saying, “He had ill intentions towards my children, so I did it. My son killed him with a knife, I didn’t do it.” Poonam was previously married to Sukhdev Tiwari, who abandoned her. She then lived with a man named Kallu before meeting and marrying Das in 2017. Unaware of Das’s family in Bihar, she was shocked and furious upon discovering his secret life.
Das, a lift operator, had sold Poonam’s jewelry to support his family in Bihar. The mother-son duo began plotting the murder in April. Police have so far recovered six pieces of the body. CCTV footage showed the mother and son entering and exiting an uninhabited plot of land at various times, further implicating them in the crime.
The case highlights the tragic and gruesome lengths to which people can go when driven by betrayal and anger.
