Wife Throws Acid on Husband After Argument Over Late Return

A woman in Kanpur threw acid on her husband’s face after an argument about her coming home late. The incident occurred on Saturday night in the Cooperganj area.

The victim, Dabbu Gupta (40), is now receiving treatment at Ursala Hospital. The police have registered a case at the Collector Ganj police station.

Incident Details

According to Dabbu’s statement, his wife, Poonam (35), became angry when he asked why she came home late. The argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, she picked up acid from the washroom and threw it at him.

Dabbu reported that Poonam returned home around 12:30 a.m. When he questioned her, she started quarreling with him. The situation turned physical, with both parties involved in the altercation. Enraged, Poonam then threw acid on Dabbu’s face.

Police Investigation

Police questioned locals who claimed that Dabbu has a drinking problem and often quarrels with his wife. They suggested that Poonam’s extreme action was a result of frustration over his alcohol addiction.

The police spokesman noted, “Locals allege that Gupta frequently fights with his wife due to his liquor addiction. This might have driven his wife to take such an extreme step.”
