A tragic incident occurred in Kota, Rajasthan, where 17-year-old IIT-JEE aspirant Satyaveer, also known as Raunak, was allegedly beaten to death by fellow students. The attack took place late Monday night, November 11, in the Indira Vihar area after a heated argument at a tea stall. The attackers used iron rods during the assault.
Satyaveer was taken to the medical college, but he succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning. Originally from Karmakar village in UP’s Deoria district, Satyaveer’s father, Tarkeshwar Singh, and other family members traveled to Kota to retrieve his body.
Tarkeshwar Singh received a call from the Kota police on Tuesday morning, informing him of his son’s death. His wife, Reema, who was living with Satyaveer in Kota, also confirmed the tragic news shortly after.
Singh, a vendor, had sent his only son to Kota for coaching to prepare for the IIT-JEE exam. Satyaveer had been living in Kota for one and a half years for this purpose. The incident happened when Satyaveer was at a tea stall, where a heated argument with fellow students escalated into violence. The attackers beat him with iron rods and chains.
Bhiwani Singh, the circle officer of Kota, stated that after the assault, Satyaveer managed to return to his room. However, his condition worsened late at night, and with the help of some fellow students, he was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The police have identified six of the eight assailants involved and have registered a case under relevant sections. However, Satyaveer’s father has demanded that the accused be charged with murder.
Ramesh Kushwaha, the village head of Karmakar, noted that Satyaveer was a student at Sarasvati Vidya Mandir in Gorakhpur. After completing high school, he moved to Kota to prepare for the IIT-JEE exams.
This heartbreaking incident has raised concerns about student safety and violence in coaching centers in Kota, a city known for its educational institutions and competitive exam preparation centers.
