Goa Woman Kills 4-Year-Old Son, Arrested While Fleeing to Karnataka with Body in Bag
A 39-year-old woman, Suchana Seth, CEO of a Bengaluru-based start-up The Mindful AI Lab, has been arrested by Goa Police for allegedly murdering her 4-year-old son. The shocking incident came to light when she tried to flee to Karnataka with the child’s body hidden in a travel bag.
According to police, Seth checked into a service apartment in Candolim, North Goa, on January 6 along with her son. After two days, she told staff she needed to travel to Bengaluru for work and asked them to arrange a taxi. The staff suggested a cheaper flight option, but she insisted on hiring a cab.
Blood Stains Raise Alarm
After her departure, the apartment staff found blood stains on a towel in the room. They became suspicious and noticed that the child was not seen leaving with her. The staff also observed that she was carrying a very heavy bag.
The management immediately informed the Calangute Police, who then contacted Seth for answers. She claimed the blood stains were due to menstrual bleeding and said her son was staying with a friend in Margao, giving a specific address.
However, police discovered the address was fake, and contacted the taxi driver, who had already entered Chitradurga district in Karnataka. The driver was told to divert to the nearest police station.
Arrested in Chitradurga with Body in Vehicle
Following instructions, the driver took Seth to the Ayamangala Police Station in Hiriyur taluk, where officers detained her. Upon searching the vehicle, they found the dead body of the child.
The Goa Police team reached Chitradurga, got transit remand from the local magistrate, and took custody of the accused. A post-mortem was scheduled in Hiriyur as part of the legal process.
Investigation Underway
Goa Police have informed Venkat Raman, Seth’s husband, who is currently in Jakarta, Indonesia. The motive for the murder is still unclear, and further investigation is ongoing.
This tragic case has shocked the local community and raised questions about the mental state and circumstances that led to this horrific act.
