Pune Court Orders Woman to Pay Rs 50,000 Alimony to Husband in Rare Divorce Case

Pune Court Directs Woman to Pay Rs 50,000 Alimony to Husband in Divorce Case

In a rare and notable ruling, a Pune court has ordered a woman to pay Rs 50,000 as permanent alimony to her husband in a divorce case. The couple, who got married in 2018, had been living separately due to ideological differences.

The 33-year-old woman holds an M.Tech degree, while her 38-year-old husband is a B.Tech graduate. The husband filed for alimony in March 2022, shortly after which the wife also applied for financial support. However, during the court proceedings, it was found that the wife had submitted fake and misleading documents to support her claim.

The case was heard by Civil Judge S. V. Phulbandhe at the Pune Court. After reviewing the evidence, the judge ruled in favor of the husband, ordering the wife to pay Rs 50,000 as permanent alimony. The court made it clear that her documents were fraudulent and her claims were not supported by truth.

This judgment stands out because it is still uncommon in India for husbands to be awarded alimony. Usually, courts direct husbands to provide financial support to their wives. This case shows that alimony decisions are becoming more gender-neutral and highlight the importance of honesty and transparency in legal proceedings.

The verdict also serves as a reminder that submitting false documents can backfire and may influence the outcome of a legal case. The court emphasized the need for truth and integrity in all family court matters.
