Delhi Double Murder: Woman Kills Husband and Mother-in-Law with Lover’s Help
Delhi Police have arrested a 29-year-old woman, Monika Verma, and her boyfriend Ashish for the brutal murder of her husband and mother-in-law. The double murder has shocked the city and revealed a disturbing story of betrayal and revenge.
During the investigation, Monika confessed that her husband and in-laws had been interfering in her affair with Ashish. They had read her intimate chats with Ashish and taken away her smartphone, replacing it with a basic feature phone. Despite this, Monika and Ashish continued their affair through calls and secret meetings.
Monika had married Ravi in 2016 at the age of 22. The couple had a son. Before marriage, Monika worked in a call center. She met Ashish, a bodybuilder and bouncer, in August 2020. Their relationship soon turned into an affair.
Ashish even introduced Monika to his mother as his girlfriend. But once his mother learned that Monika was already married and had a child, she opposed the relationship. However, the couple continued to meet.
Things took a serious turn when Ravi read more private chats between Monika and Ashish. Monika’s mother-in-law, Veena, started closely monitoring her activities, which led to regular arguments at home.
Monika told police, “It felt like I was living in a prison. They tried to control every part of my life. I don’t regret what I did.”
Her anger grew when she found out her in-laws planned to sell the house and move to Dwarka. She believed her mother-in-law would get ₹1.5–2 crore from the sale, which added to her frustration.
Monika began planning the murders in December 2022. On February 20, 2023, she met Ashish at a hotel where they finalized the plan. One night, when her mother-in-law was out shopping, Monika secretly brought Ashish home and hid him on the terrace.
That night, after everyone went to sleep around 10:30 pm, Ashish came down, and the couple carried out the murders.
By 7 am the next morning, the bodies were discovered. Neighbors reported frequent fights between Monika and her mother-in-law. CCTV footage later showed Ashish arriving on his bike the night of the incident.
Police grew suspicious of Monika and began questioning her. They found she had two SIM cards, one used only to contact Ashish. After further investigation, Monika admitted to her role in the double murder.
