In a shocking and tragic case from Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, a couple reportedly made a suicide pact, but only the man went through with the act while the woman changed her mind at the last moment.
According to reports, the couple had checked into a hotel with the intention of ending their lives together. The 31-year-old man died by hanging, while his girlfriend, who was supposed to join him in the act, got scared and screamed for help.
The incident came to light on Monday night when hotel staff heard the woman crying inside the room. Upon entering, they found the man hanging and noticed blood near the woman’s ear. The hotel staff immediately informed the police.
The police reached the spot and took the woman to a nearby hospital, which later referred her to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
In her statement, the woman told the police that she and her boyfriend had decided to die together. She said they had taken some medicines, and then the man hanged himself. But at the last moment, she panicked and started crying.
The woman’s family had already filed a missing complaint at their local police station after she failed to return home on Sunday, the day the couple checked into the hotel.
Currently, the police are investigating the incident to understand the reasons behind the suicide pact. So far, no clear motive has been found.
This heartbreaking event highlights the importance of mental health awareness and the need for emotional support in times of distress.
