A 42-year-old woman from Mumbai has been booked by police after she allegedly posted obscene photos of her ex-boyfriend on his 14-year-old daughter’s school website. The act was seen as revenge for him ending their relationship.
The sessions court rejected her anticipatory bail, saying it must have been shocking and distressing for the young girl to see such images of her father, especially on a school platform meant for education and children.
According to the complaint, the man and the woman met at a gym in South Mumbai and started a romantic relationship. The woman knew he was married and had a daughter. Over time, the man allegedly gave her expensive gifts, including three diamond rings and a watch.
Problems began when the woman pressured the man to divorce his wife and marry her. When he refused, the woman allegedly started blackmailing him with their intimate pictures. He claimed he tried to block contact by changing his phone number three times, but she kept following him and even showed up at his home.
Things took a serious turn when she allegedly uploaded their private photos to the school website of his daughter. The man filed an FIR with the police immediately after the incident.
She has been charged under various sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act, related to cyber crime, harassment, and misuse of private images.
The court, while rejecting her bail, said:
“The applicant (woman) and the informant (man) may keep fighting over personal issues, but the woman had no right to disturb the life of an innocent child.”
It further added that the woman’s actions could seriously damage the girl’s image, future, and mental peace. The court also feared that letting the woman go on bail could interfere with the ongoing police investigation.
