In a tragic incident in Gurugram, a 35-year-old man named Vikram reportedly committed suicide while broadcasting the act live on Instagram from a hotel room on September 12. His wife, Neeru, has accused a female friend of blackmailing Vikram and pushing him to take this drastic step.
According to Neeru’s complaint, her husband went to a hotel in Sector 38 at the invitation of a 20-year-old female friend to celebrate her birthday. Neeru claims that once at the hotel, Vikram was forced to commit suicide and even record it on Instagram Live. She alleges that the woman had been blackmailing him and demanding money, threatening to release objectionable videos of the two online. Neeru stated, “She tortured Vikram multiple times and forced him to kill himself.”
Vikram and Neeru lived in the Rajendra Park area with their two children. Neeru mentioned that Vikram had only become friends with the woman a few months before this tragic event.
Neeru claims that the woman was present in the room when Vikram hanged himself but did nothing to intervene. Reports indicate that the suicide occurred shortly after the woman, who is from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, left the room. Upon discovering the situation through the Instagram Live post, the woman quickly informed the hotel staff, who then called the police.
The police have filed a case under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which addresses abetment to suicide, against the female friend based on Neeru’s complaint submitted on Monday.
