In a surprising move, the Karnataka government has transferred IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil after a public spat on social media involving the sharing of private photos. Both officers, who have been involved in controversies before, were transferred without new postings.
The conflict began when IPS officer D Roopa accused Sindhuri of misconduct and shared personal photos of her, claiming that Sindhuri had shared these images with male officers. Sindhuri dismissed the allegations as baseless and driven by personal hatred, accusing Roopa of launching a false vilification campaign against her.
Rohini Sindhuri also announced plans to take legal action against Roopa, stating that Roopa’s actions amounted to misconduct and criminal offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Both officers have filed complaints against each other with Karnataka’s Chief Secretary, Vandita Sharma.
Speaking to the media, Sindhuri said Roopa had gathered her photos from social media and WhatsApp status updates to defame her. She challenged Roopa to reveal the names of the officials with whom these images were allegedly shared.
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra condemned the behavior of both officers, stating that their public altercations were inappropriate for individuals in responsible positions. He assured that appropriate action would be taken against them.
The controversy has sparked widespread media attention, with both officers being reprimanded for their behavior.
