A man from Ludhiana died by suicide after his lover allegedly slapped him during an argument over money. The police arrested the woman, identified as Rajwinder Kaur from Ranwan village, for abetment to suicide.
The deceased, Gurdeep Singh, aged 30, had been working in Dubai but returned home around two-and-a-half years ago. His father, Nachhatar Singh, informed the police that while Gurdeep was abroad, he sent money to Rajwinder Kaur, as they were in a relationship. According to Nachhatar, Gurdeep had given her around Rs. 1.20 lakh.
When Gurdeep asked Rajwinder to return the money, she would often argue with him. On the morning of September 28, Gurdeep visited Rajwinder’s house to request the money again. Shortly after, she came to his home, grabbed him by the neck, slapped him, and verbally abused him, claiming she didn’t owe him any money.
Deeply hurt by the incident, Gurdeep reportedly cried and told his family that he had been humiliated and couldn’t bear it. Later that evening, he consumed a poisonous substance. His father rushed him to Ludhiana CMC Hospital, but despite medical efforts, Gurdeep passed away.
Upon receiving the report, officers from the Machhiwara police station began investigating the matter. The police sent Gurdeep’s body for a post-mortem examination.
