In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old woman from Ahmedabad reported that she was forced to marry her brother-in-law to cover up her elder sister’s extramarital affair. This unusual case was brought to light by the Abhayam Helpline counselors.
According to the details, the elder sister arranged for the younger sister to marry her husband’s brother. This was done to hide her own affair with her brother-in-law. The younger woman reached out to Abhayam Helpline, stating that she was being harassed by her in-laws and her own sister.
The woman explained that her elder sister had been married for four years. Soon after her own marriage, she discovered her sister’s affair. When she reported this to her own husband, he took no action, which led her to seek help from the helpline. She also revealed to the counselors that she had no real relationship with her husband.
Eventually, both the complainant’s husband and her sister admitted that the marriage was arranged to keep the affair a secret within the family. However, the family has now promised that the extramarital relationship will end and that they will make amends with the complainant.
