An unusual case from Gujarat reveals that a woman has sent her husband to jail seven times, only to bail him out each time.
Premchand Mali and Sonu, residents of Mehsana village in Gujarat, were married in 2001. Despite financial hardships, Premchand, a laborer, was the family’s sole provider. Although their marriage faced financial strain, they did not have serious conflicts until 2014.
In 2015, Sonu filed a police complaint accusing Premchand of domestic violence. The court ruled in her favor and ordered Premchand to pay a monthly allowance of ₹2,000. However, Premchand, struggling with his low income, claimed he could not afford the payment, which led to his imprisonment.
Premchand was released on bail after five months, with Sonu arranging the bail. Surprisingly, from 2016 onward, Premchand was sent to jail around five more times due to various complaints filed by Sonu. Each time, Sonu secured his release on bail.
Local police are now growing frustrated with the repetitive nature of these legal battles involving Premchand and Sonu.
