Woman Booked for Dumping Newborn in Hotel Toilet Dustbin Amid Personal Dispute

A 41-year-old woman has been booked for abandoning her newborn child in a toilet dustbin at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The incident occurred on Monday and came to light when a housekeeping staff member heard the baby crying while cleaning the toilet at 10:30 am.

The hotel staff quickly informed the police, and a case was registered at the N M Joshi Marg police station. The woman was identified and traced using CCTV footage. The newborn, a baby boy, was immediately admitted to the NICU at Nair Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The woman, a resident of Goregaon (East), claimed during the preliminary inquiry that she had come to the hotel for some work. She unexpectedly went into labor and delivered the baby in the toilet. She admitted to abandoning the child due to a personal dispute with her husband.

This distressing incident underscores the complexities and challenges individuals may face, highlighting the need for support and intervention in personal disputes and crises.
